Details

The International Conference on Sustainable Development (ICSD) provides a forum for academia, government, civil society, UN agencies, and the private sector to come together to share practical solutions to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Established in 2013, the objective to form the ICSD was to address and find the solutions to the complex challenges of sustainable development.  As such, in an auditorium at Université Cheikh Anta Diop, a partnership between the Global Association of Master’s in Development Practice (GAMDP) and Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) determined to launch the first ICSD. The first ICSD took place on September 2013, followed by conferences in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018. And now for the 7th ICSD (2019), hosted in New York City by The Earth Institute, Columbia University, and their Center for Sustainable Development.

Moreover, the conference aims to identify and share practical, evidence-based solutions that can support the SDGs. The ICSD provides a unique opportunity to bring together stakeholders from government, academia, the United Nations, international agencies, NGOs, and grassroots organizers to share practical solutions towards the achievement of more sustainable and inclusive societies.

The Global Master’s in Development Practice (MDP) is an interdisciplinary graduate degree program. GAMDP prepares students to better identify and address the challenges of sustainable development. The SDSN aims to accelerate joint learning and help to overcome the compartmentalization of technical and policy work. Further, it works to promote integrated approaches to the interconnected economic, social, and environmental challenges. The SDSN works closely with United Nations agencies, multilateral financing institutions, the private sector, as well as civil society.
