Winter School at IIT Roorkee

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is a Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India programme to uplift Rural India.The programme is being launched in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology(IITs), National Institute of Technology(NITs) and other leading Government Engineering Institutes. UBA,IIT Roorkee works on the model of Integrated Rural Development.The students try to synergize the effort of Academia-Government-Industries and Society to orchestrate a ground level solution for the problems in Rural India.

About the Winter School :

UBA-IIT Roorkee team has the vision to sensitize the youth about the ground level problems and therefore they are organizing a Winter School from January 13-16, 2017 for students all over India to participate and learn. UBA team will be organizing sessions by renowned speakers & professors, group discussions and brainstorming sessions on rural problems. The major focus of the winter school will be on the following:

1.Accessible India
2.Concept of Integrated Rural Development
3.Issues of Indian Economy
4.Skill India
5.Social Entrepreneurship/ Startups
6.Social Infrastructure of villages in Uttarakhand (A state of India)

Who can apply

Only those candidates can apply who:

• are available for full time (in-office) internship.
• are available for duration of 5 days (preferred, not mandatory).
• are pursuing any degree but have relevant skills and interest
• are currently in any year of study

Other Requirements

1. Any undergraduate can apply.
2. Before applying, Kindly make a new folder on your google drive and add a) photograph b) Statement of Purpose c) your CV in it. You will be asked to share it during registration.

Additional Information

Please note:

• Candidates need to bear their travel expenses to and from Roorkee
• Candidates will have to pay a fee of Rs. 1900. This fee includes the following:
  • Accommodation (dates will be intimated soon)
  • Mess Fee (dates will be intimated soon)
  • Participation fee of all events, workshops and field visits
  • Expenses of field visit
