Fellowships for International Students in Germany, 2017

Applications are invited for Zentrum Digitaleisierung.Bayern (ZD.B) Fellowships to pursue Ph.D. programme. In 2017, up to ten ZD.B Fellowships will be awarded. One fundamental ZD.B initiative to reach these goals in the field of digitization is the support of doctoral candidates. The funding program is also an opportunity to enable more qualified women to get into leading management positions within science, business, and society.

The Zentrum Digitaleisierung.Bayern (ZD.B) is a unique research, cooperation and foundation platform in Germany, which acts as a stimulant in cooperation with business, science, associations and public measures. The aim is to further strengthen the research competence of Bavaria in the area of digitization and to increase the pace of digital developments.

Through a ZD.B Fellowship , graduate students at a state-run Bavarian university with a future- oriented research project in a field of interest relevant to digitization receive the opportunity to be financially and ideally supported. In principle, highly qualified candidates of all disciplines are addressed, who are offered their doctorate at a university or in cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences and the University of Applied Sciences Digitization.

Scholarship

ZD.B Fellows receive funding for a period of generally three years to carry out their doctoral thesis. A full-time job is financed according to TV-L E13 (100%) at the Bavarian State University (University or Applied Science College) where the doctoral thesis is being conducted.

Eligibility

  • Excellent university degree or comparable state-recognized study qualification, which qualifies for a doctorate at a state Bavarian university
  • Which has a technically, economically or socially relevant focus which is important for digitization and which is designed for a period of three years
  • Support by the supervising university lecturer or the supervising university lecturer at a state Bavarian University – in the case of doctorate courses in cooperation or in conjunction with the University and the University of Applied Sciences, e.g. within the framework of a BayWISS Colloquium.
