Scholarship at Harvard University, USA

Harvard University is offering Financial Assistance for all incoming students, domestic and international students. Applicants are urged to submit their financial assistance application by the given deadline in order to be considered for financial assistance. Since the majority of scholarship and fellowship opportunities are primarily based on merit, all prospective students are encouraged to apply regardless of financial need.

The financial assistance application is used to consider prospective students for:

  • Dean’s and Kennedy Fellowships
  • Public Service Fellowships
  • HKS research center based fellowships
  • A variety of HKS scholarships and fellowships — review the HKS Fellowships and Scholarships webpage for more details on available resources
  • Restricted Scholarships from the Harvard Committee on General Scholarships (CGS)
  • Financial need-based funds

U.S. citizens and permanent residents who wish to be considered for need-sensitive scholarships and/or loans must also complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form online and have the results sent to the John F. Kennedy School of Government. FAFSA’s should be submitted the school code of E00215. Please be careful not to use the very similar code for Harvard University.

The Zuckerman Fellowship has a separate application and an earlier deadline of January 6, 2017.

Financial Aid Checklist

For fellowships that require the submission of an essay, the essay will be uploaded through links contained within the financial aid application and must be uploaded at the same time that the application for financial aid is completed.  If after submission, an applicant wishes to add additional fellowships, they can return to the application status page, select the financial aid application link, make whatever changes and additions desired, and then resubmit the application.

Please note, however, that once a fellowship essay is submitted, it cannot be changed by the applicant.  If an error is made and a new essay needs to be submitted, it will be necessary to contact the Office of Student Financial Services to discuss alternatives.
