The Harvard Academy Scholars Program is a two-year, in-residence postdoctoral fellowship at the Harvard Academy for International and Area Studies. The program is designed to support outstanding scholars at the start of their academic careers whose work combines excellence in a social science discipline with a command of the language and knowledge or expertise of countries or regions outside of the United States or Canada.

The Academy Scholars Program provides each scholar with a substantial stipend, research assistance, and access to Harvard University’s resources. Scholars are also provided with opportunities to participate in seminars, conferences, and workshops, and to collaborate with other scholars and faculty members.

The Harvard Academy Scholars Program is a highly competitive program. Only a limited number of scholars are selected each year. If you are interested in applying, you must meet the following eligibility criteria:

• You must have recently received a PhD in a social science discipline.
• You must have a strong research proposal that focuses on a country or region outside of the United States or Canada.
• You must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the language of the country or region that is the focus of your research.
• You must be able to commit to two years of full-time research at Harvard University.

The application deadline for the Harvard Academy Scholars Program is February 15th. To apply, you must submit the following documents:

• A completed application form
• A copy of your PhD transcript
• A letter of motivation
• A research proposal
• A copy of your passport
• Two letters of reference
