The University invites applications for an experienced and visionary Associate Professor in Rhetoric and Composition to serve as the Director of Composition (DOC), starting August 2019. This is a permanent, nine-month, full-time, tenure-track appointment. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience, and benefits are competitive.
Responsibilities
As an Associate Professor, the successful applicant will be expected to conduct scholarly research leading to publication in areas of expertise; to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in composition, pedagogy, and rhetoric; and to advise graduate and undergraduate students. In the DOC role the successful applicant will be responsible for all areas of the Composition Program at WSU Pullman. The DOC works closely with the Assistant Director of Composition to supervise and mentor graduate teaching assistants and instructors, design and facilitate professional development sessions, review curriculum, and conduct program assessment. The DOC also chairs the multi-campus Composition Committee and coordinates with the Department Chair, Director of Graduate Studies, and other writing program administrators across the university’s multiple campuses. The DOC maintains a leadership role in coordinating and developing the Composition Program and outreach throughout the campus community.
