Assistant Professor of Writing and Rhetoric position available in the Department of Literature at the School of Arts and Humanities of St. Edward’s University.

St. Edward’s University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Writing and Rhetoric. This faculty member will be responsible for teaching courses in the undergraduate Writing and Rhetoric major, especially courses exploring diverse communities’ theories and practices of professional writing and writing in the digital age. Additional teaching could include special topics courses and first- and second-year writing courses in the general education writing program.

Responsibilities

Full-time nine-month teaching responsibilities (4 courses per semester). Teaching responsibilities include Writing in the Digital Age (the introductory course in the Writing and Rhetoric major); upper-division professional writing requirements and electives such as Workplace Writing, Technical Writing, and Content and Social Media; special topics courses; and first- and second-year writing courses in the general education program as needed.

Qualifications

PhD in Professional Writing, Rhetoric and Composition, Writing Studies, or a related field. Demonstration of effective teaching in relevant courses.
Demonstrated ability to engage students in a diverse range of theories and practices of digital writing and workplace writing. Demonstrated participation in the scholarship of professional writing, general education writing, and/or writing and digital technologies. Educational philosophy consistent with a liberal arts emphasis and values orientation. Successful completion of an employment and/or criminal history background check required.
