Program Coordinator for Asian Studies Program position is available in Georgetown University.

About the Position

The Program Coordinator is responsible for planning and executing the Asian Studies Program (ASP)’s conferences, seminars, lectures, workshops, and special initiatives. The Program Coordinator will also provide communications and outreach expertise in improving ASP’s global brand, especially by expanding and maintaining online and social media presence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain, and promote content on the ASP website and update social media on a daily basis, working closely with SFS Communications on technical issues.
  • Assist the Director and Assistant Directors with building a content marketing strategy for ASP and other strategies for enhancing the visibility of ASP and particularly the M.A. in Asian Studies (MASIA) degree
  • Manage ASP/MASIA events, including, but not limited to, conferences, lectures, VIP visits, book talks, recognition ceremonies, receptions, lunches, etc.
  • Survey key issues in contemporary Asian affairs to research potential speakers and draft event proposals.
  • Maintain statistics on events for reporting purposes.
  • Coordinate with other departments or external groups for events in which ASP is a partner or participant.
  • Review daily news updates on Asian affairs and handles relevant media inquiries for ASP faculty.
  • Provide basic design and layout assistance for various reports, announcements, program brochures, and handouts.
  • Work closely with the SFS Communications team on visual identity, branding, and events that will generate media coverage.
  • Audio/video record events and upload finished products on the website.
  • Conduct interviews with faculty and external experts to write various Asia-related stories and produce multimedia materials, including podcasts, videos, and web posts.
  • Build reciprocal communication networks with outside institutions for advertising purposes.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1-2 years of professional experience in event planning, communications, marketing, or public relations
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail and technical proficiency to meet the demands of the position, including knowledge of audio/video recording and editing, graphic design, and online mass communication tools
  • Academic training in international affairs with a regional focus on Asia and/or language competency in Chinese, Japanese, or Korean preferred.
