Chevening South Asia Journalism Fellowship (SAJP) 2026–27

The Chevening South Asia Journalism Fellowship (SAJP) is a prestigious eight-week programme hosted by the University of Westminster, funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). It is tailored specifically for mid-career journalists from South Asian countries—Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives.

Programme Overview

Titled “Good Governance in a Changing World: The Media, Politics and Society,” the fellowship equips participants with critical insights into how media engage with democratic processes. Participants explore media ethics, public accountability, and governance frameworks through lectures, site visits, and peer dialogue. The programme culminates with fellows organizing a symposium on a self-chosen topic.

Benefits at a Glance

Each SAJP fellow receives:

  • Full coverage of programme fees
  • Living stipend for the duration of the fellowship
  • Return economy airfare from their country to the UK
