Admission Requirements & Application Process
Postgraduate Programs
Eligibility for international applicants includes:
- Non-Chinese nationality with a valid passport (ic.ustc.edu.cn).
- Academic qualifications: Bachelor’s for master’s applicants and Master’s for PhD applicants (or a pre-graduation certificate)
- Age limit: Under 40 for master’s, 45 for PhD by September 1, 2025 (ic.ustc.edu.cn).
- Language requirement:
- For Chinese-instructed programs: HSK 4 or above (or exemption proof)
- For English-instructed programs: English language proficiency documentation required (ic.ustc.edu.cn).
Interviews or school-specific assessments may follow via separate online interviews or tests
Research Internships (Non-Degree)
- Open to 3rd/4th-year undergraduates and graduate students.
- Offers hands-on research under the mentorship of USTC professors in state-of-the-art labs (ic.ustc.edu.cn).
Scholarships & Financial Support
- USTC Fellowships: Offer tuition waivers, accommodation subsidy, medical insurance, and stipends—approx. USD 500/month (Master’s) and USD 1050/month (PhD) (NSTDA).
- Chinese Government Scholarships: Fully cover tuition, accommodation, insurance, and monthly stipend (3,000 RMB for Master’s; 3,500 RMB for PhD)
- CAS-TWAS Fellowship: Includes tuition waiver, health coverage, stipend (7,000–8,000 RMB/month), and travel support (UTM International).
