Unleashing Human Rights Forum 2025 – Fully Funded in Budapest

The Unleashing Human Rights Forum 2025 is a fully funded, three-day youth-focused event taking place 9–11 December 2025 at the European Youth Centre in Budapest, Hungary. Co-organised by the Council of Europe (Youth, Education & North South Centre) and the UN Human Rights Office (OHCHR)—with partners like the European Youth Forum and Amnesty International—this forum aims to critically assess and renew strategies for human rights education by, for, and with young people.

• When: 9–11 December 2025 (arrival on 8 December; departure on 12 December)
• Where: European Youth Centre, Budapest
• Who: ~250 participants, including 50 from non-European regions

Who Should Apply?

Ideal participants include:

• Young human rights educators, activists, and multipliers
• Education professionals from formal or non-formal sectors
• Youth policy officials and government representatives
• Leaders from civil society organizations focused on citizenship or rights education
• Contributors to Compass / Compasito programs
• Representatives of human rights institutions and NGOs

What to Expect: Objectives & Agenda

The forum seeks to:

• Reflect on the current achievements, challenges, and gaps in human rights education worldwide
• Identify innovative strategies, policies, and resources for inclusive education (e.g., digital rights, gender equality, climate)
• Empower young activists and youth educators to build partnerships and strengthen advocacy
• Shape the next phase (2025–29) of UN and Council of Europe human rights education agendas
• Promote global dialogue and resilience among the human rights education community

1. Opening with UN and CoE leadership, keynote on universality of human rights education
2. Reflections on current challenges, education policy discussions
3. Workshops tackling digital technologies, gender equality, environment & climate change
4. Final sessions celebrating milestones, forging post-forum resolutions
