Women Deliver 2026 Media Scholarships — Apply Now & Cover Your Reporting Costs

The Women Deliver 2026 (WD2026) conference, taking place 27–30 April 2026 in Narrm (Melbourne), Australia, will feature Media Scholarships designed to enable journalists and content creators globally to attend, report, and highlight stories that might otherwise go uncovered.

These scholarships are especially intended for media practitioners without the means to attend on their own. The goal is broad, inclusive coverage of the event—across gender, health, human rights, climate justice, and voices from the Oceanic Pacific region.

Who Can Apply?

These scholarships are open to a broad range of media professionals, including:

  • Reporters, editors, broadcast presenters/anchors
  • Photojournalists and videographers
  • Podcast/radio journalists and newsroom social or visual teams
  • Freelancers with a commissioning or assignment letter
  • Independent content creators producing factual coverage of social issues

Priority will be given to:

  • Journalists and creators who focus on gender equality, health, human rights, climate justice, or Oceanic Pacific issues
  • First Nations / Indigenous journalists
  • LGBTQIA+ individuals, persons with disabilities, refugees or internally displaced persons, and those from under-resourced communities
  • Early-career journalists or creators who have not previously received a Women Deliver Conference Scholarship

What the Scholarship Covers

Selected recipients will receive full support for:

  • WD2026 conference registration
  • Hotel accommodation during the conference (26–30 April 2026)
  • Roundtrip economy airfare
  • Visa fees and related costs
  • Per diems for local transportation and daily meals
  • Travel insurance

Key Dates & Application Process

  • Applications open: 15 September 2025
  • Applications close: 15 October 2025
  • Notification: Successful applicants will be informed by November 2025

The WD2026 team, in partnership with regional organizations, will review applications based on professional journalism experience, relevance of prior coverage, and the alignment of the candidate’s outlet or audience with WD2026 themes.

Recipient Responsibilities

If you are awarded a Media Scholarship, you’ll be asked to:

  • Actively participate in the conference, including media briefings (some may be held virtually before the event)
  • Produce coverage—articles, interviews, videos, etc.—and share links or clips with Women Deliver
  • Observe embargoes, filming/photography rules, and site-specific policies
  • Adhere to the WD2026 Code of Conduct during the conference

Why This Matters

Media plays a pivotal role in shaping narratives. By supporting diverse journalists to attend WD2026, Women Deliver ensures stories often marginalized—especially from areas like the Oceanic Pacific, from underrepresented groups, or covering gender/climate intersections—are heard globally. The scholarship doesn’t just cover logistics; it supports visibility, equity, and a richer public discourse.
