Programme Assistant position is available in the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute(UNICRI), Pilot Project to Support the Arab Spring Countries to implement Asset Recovery, in Brussels (Belgium). The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Senior Legal Officer (Asset Recovery Advisor) and will work closely with other project staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to facilitate implementation of project activities, including: ensuring all logistical coordination (in close coordination with counterparts) for workshops, meetings and other events; timely preparation and processing of payments, consistent with UN rules, regulations and guidelines; establishing and maintaining contact with reliable vendors to facilitate procurement and/or purchase of materials related to project implementation
- Establish and maintain efficient filing system (both electronic and physical) to ensure rapid retrieval and efficient use of information gathered through the project; conduct reference searches upon request;
- Conduct basic research on assigned issues using existing legal files and alternative sources (e.g. computer-assisted searches using internet and diverse databases).
- Prepare draft press releases and/or other visibility documents related to the project’s implementation; ensuring that updated information on the project’s implementation is, once approved, timely and appropriately disseminated
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A minimum of five years of relevant working experience in the field of administrative programme/project support, including several years of relevant experience in logistical assistance is required.
- Relevant work experience with SAP (Umoja) or other comparable ERP systems is strongly desirable.
- Relevant working experience in the field of crime prevention or other justice-related projects is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in the United Nations Common System or in similar large organizations is an advantage.
- Experience in working with European Union (EU) funded programmes is desirable.
- Fluency in English and French is required. Knowledge of Arabic is desirable. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
