Fully Funded Summer Exchange Program in Austria
Are you an undergraduate student in life sciences, biotechnology, bioinformatics or a related field? The Vienna BioCenter Summer School presents a remarkable opportunity to join a world-class research environment in Austria for the summer of 2026.
Programme Overview
The Vienna BioCenter Summer School (run by the Vienna BioCenter campus) is a 9-week intensive research programme that places students alongside leading scientists in Austria’s premier life-sciences institutes. Participants engage in hands-on experimental work, data analysis, idea generation and presentation of results. Weekly lectures, journal clubs and an end-of-programme symposium are integral parts of the experience.
The programme also includes a Talents-for-Future track aimed at highly motivated students from under-represented or disadvantaged backgrounds, ensuring inclusive access to top research training.

Eligibility & Application Criteria
You can apply if you:
- Are enrolled at undergraduate level (or early Master) in a life-science‐related discipline, having completed at least two years of university study.
- Have good academic records and sufficient English language ability (the programme is conducted in English).
- Have not already completed a full degree before the programme start; PhD students are not eligible.
- Can commit to attending the entire programme, from late June to late August 2026.
- For the Talents-for-Future track: students from selected target countries or disadvantaged backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply.

- Applications open in November 2025.
- Deadline typically around mid-January 2026 (CET).
- Selection notifications around early March 2026.
- Programme runs from last Friday in June to last Friday in August 2026 (exact dates confirmed each year).
