What the Paralegal Will Do

The selected candidate will join ICSID’s legal teams and support case management across the full arbitration lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Drafting, formatting, proofreading, and finalizing legal correspondence
  • Managing case filings and submissions using ICSID systems
  • Tracking procedural milestones, deadlines, and case calendars
  • Coordinating document publication and translation workflows
  • Supporting hearings, both in Washington, DC and internationally
  • Conducting legal and factual research for ongoing cases
  • Assisting with case budgets and escrow account monitoring
  • Providing technical support to parties, arbitrators, and counsel

The role requires precision, discretion, and strong organizational skills in a fast-paced legal environment.

Language Skills Are a Major Advantage

Fluency in English is required.
Knowledge of French and/or Spanish—ICSID’s other official languages—is strongly preferred and can significantly strengthen an application.

Who Should Apply

ICSID is seeking candidates with:

  • A Bachelor’s degree, paralegal certification, or equivalent experience
  • 1–2 years of relevant paralegal experience
  • Strong legal drafting, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Familiarity with arbitration or dispute resolution (an advantage)
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and document databases
  • Comfort using videoconferencing platforms for hearings and meetings

Preference is given to candidates authorized to work in the United States.
