The WBG Pioneers internship is the World Bank Group’s flagship programme for undergraduate and postgraduate students who want hands-on international development experience with one of the world’s leading global institutions. WBG Pioneers is a premier internship programme offered by the World Bank Group.  2026 Application & Timeline

  • Application Period: January 19 – February 17, 2026
  • Selection: Shortlisted candidates are notified and interviewed in March 2026
  • Internship Start: April 2026
  • Duration: April to September 2026, with flexible start dates within this period

 Who Can Apply?

WBG Pioneers welcomes applications from:

  • Undergraduate Track: Final-year bachelor’s students
  • Postgraduate Track: Students currently enrolled in a master’s degree or PhD programme
  • Candidates may have 0–6 years of professional experience
  • Diverse academic backgrounds and technical skills are encouraged

 What Interns Do

As a WBG Pioneers intern, you will:

  • Contribute to ongoing World Bank Group projects
  • Work across thematic areas like economics and investment, human development, environment, agriculture, urban planning, energy, and transport
  • Support corporate functions including accounting, communications, human resources, information technology, and finance
  • Develop professional skills through real work assignments and knowledge exchange with global teams (World Bank)

Internships may be based at the World Bank Group headquarters in Washington, D.C., or in one of its country offices around the world. Participants receive a paid hourly wage, but accommodation and living costs are the responsibility of the interns.

  • Proof of Enrollment/Education Transcript confirming final-year or current postgraduate status
