Swedish Institute Global Executive Programme 2026 – Leadership Training for Senior Executives

The Swedish Institute Global Executive Programme 2026 is a fully funded leadership development initiative designed for senior business executives committed to embedding sustainability and strategic transformation into their organisations. Organized by the Swedish Institute’s SI Leadership Programmes, this programme equips participants with advanced knowledge, strategic skills, and global perspectives on sustainable business practices rooted in Sweden’s world-leading experience.

What Is the SI Global Executive Programme

  1. The programme nurtures senior executives ready to reshape their businesses for long-term sustainability and resilience.
  2. It focuses on integrating social, ecological and economic sustainability into organisational strategy.
  3. The programme runs from May to November 2026, featuring online learning and a one-week onsite visit to Sweden.
  4. Participants join a cohort of about 100 leaders from 24 countries and engage in workshops, expert sessions, networking and project coaching.
  5. The experience blends interactive sessions, strategic business project work, masterclasses and real examples from Swedish business practices.

Programme Components

  1. Online Foundation Phase (May–June) – Core sessions on change leadership and sustainability fundamentals.
  2. Strategic Business Project (June–October) – Each participant develops and applies a real strategic project relevant to their company.
  3. Masterclasses (August–October) – Tailored deep-dive sessions on advanced leadership and strategic sustainability.

Who Can Apply

  1. Applicants must be citizens and residents of one of 24 eligible countries (e.g., Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Egypt, India, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Philippines, South Africa, Thailand, Türkiye, Ukraine, Vietnam).
  2. Applicants must hold a leadership position– typically a senior executive, CEO, or top manager with the ability to drive strategic change.
  3. Applicants must be at least 30 years old.
  4. A completed post-secondary qualification (Bachelor’s degree or higher) is required.
  5. Strong English proficiency is required for written and spoken communication.
  6. Applicants must demonstrate strategic business needs or sustainability challenges relevant to their organisation.
  7. The applicant’s company should be locally owned and operating in sectors related to the green transition (e.g., renewable energy, sustainable transport, responsible mining).

Participation Coverage

  1. Participation in the SI Global Executive Programme is free of charge.
  2. The Swedish Institute covers training materials, accommodation, meals, local transportation and insuranceduring the Sweden onsite week for those who complete the programme.
  3. Participants and/or their organisations are expected to arrange and pay for flights to and from Sweden, though stipends may be available to assist with travel costs.
