African Union AfCFTA Communication & Digital Internship 2026 in Ghana | International Internship for African Students

Applications are now open for the African Union (AU) AfCFTA Internship Programme 2026 in Communication, Digital Communication, and Digital Fields. Hosted by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat in Accra, Ghana, this internship offers young African students and recent graduates the opportunity to gain practical experience in digital communication, media, branding, and strategic communications within one of Africa’s most significant continental institutions. The internship is designed to help participants strengthen their professional skills while contributing to the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area.

About the AfCFTA Secretariat

The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is the world’s largest free trade area by participating countries, bringing together all 55 African Union Member States to promote economic integration, trade, industrialization, and sustainable development across Africa. The Secretariat offers internships to help develop the next generation of African professionals while supporting its strategic objectives.

Internship Responsibilities

Depending on the assigned team, interns may:

  • Assist in developing digital communication strategies.
  • Support social media management and content creation.
  • Prepare communication materials and digital campaigns.
  • Assist with website and digital platform updates.
  • Support multimedia production and graphic design.
  • Conduct communication research and audience analysis.
  • Assist with event communication and media engagement.
  • Contribute to branding and public awareness initiatives.
  • Perform other communication-related assignments as required.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should:

  • Be nationals of an African Union Member State.
  • Be between 22 and 32 years of age.
  • Be enrolled in the final year of an undergraduate programme, a postgraduate programme, or be a recent graduate from a recognized institution.
  • Have an academic background in Communication, Digital Communication, Media Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, Digital Marketing, Information Technology, Multimedia, Graphic Design, or another relevant field.
  • Be fluent in at least one AU working language (Arabic, English, French, Portuguese, or Kiswahili).
  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.
