Senior Information Systems Officer position available in the Office of Investment Management of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund. The incumbent will serve as the Head of the Information Systems Section, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and the Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversees the implementation of a multi-year program of projects to successfully achieve the Target Operating Model for the Office of Investment Management (OIM).
  • Conceptualizes, develops strategy for and oversees the design and implementation of OIM’s ICT systems initiatives; manages/oversees multiple, concurrent and often disparate tasks for projects that often involve innovative applications, dissimilar systems, as well as databases and highly complex system integration and linkages.
  • Provides authoritative technical and policy advice to senior managers on systems selection, development and implementation in a changing business environment and is able to communicate the implications of various alternatives to senior managers on business applications and other related issues; identifies and plans for future needs; develops and disseminates best practices.
  • Leads and directs a team of information systems officers; oversees activities for a discrete work section or equivalent; plans and allocates work assignments; coaches, mentors, and evaluates staff; participates in recruitment and selection of new staff and in the development of training programs.
  • Manages procurements, including conducting needs assessments and benchmarks, preparing bid documents and arranging contracts; supervises, coordinates and negotiates the services required to enable the management and operation of interdependent administrative, financial, human resources and other information systems.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in computer science, information systems, mathematics, statistics or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in planning, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of computer information systems or related area is required.
  • Experience with the management of in-house investments related IT systems is required.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in working in a global, multi-asset class investment management organization is required.
  • Experience in implementing IT systems related to front, middle, and back-office aspects of a global, multi-asset class investment organization with multi-year capital investments is required.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a senior leadership or managerial position within a global, multi-asset class investment management organization is desirable.
  • Relevant experience in a post-employment benefit scheme with in-house investment management is desirable.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is an advantage.
