Business Analyst position is required at the School of Medicine of Johns Hopkins University.
This position reports to the Manager of the Commercialization Strategy Group (CSG) within Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures (JHTV). In this role, the Business Analyst supports the technology commercialization activities of JHTV by performing assessments of new technologies and venture opportunities to assist with planning the management of new venture opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Reviews and understands technologies disclosed to Johns Hopkins University.
- Searches relevant prior art to determine the ability to patent this new technology.
- Analyzes commercial factors such as market size, developmental risk and competitive environment to turn new technologies into commercial products.
- Conducts in-depth research to understand the structure of specific industries and identify potential partners that can assist in commercialization efforts.
- Develops a working knowledge of the technology commercialization process, formation of new companies, and the process for obtaining funding for the new companies.
Salary
$57,544-$65,000
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a biological or engineering related science required.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in marketing, preferably life and physical sciences technologies or working in industry in a similar function.
- Able to understand complex technologies and develop concise, clear synopses of the technologies.
- Resourceful with data gathering, manipulation of large data sets, and quantitative analysis.
- Able to think creatively about potential commercial applications for new technologies and how JHTV might facilitate commercialization.
- Able to deal well with unstructured problems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Detail oriented and highly organized.
Preferred
Advanced degree preferred, but not required, in a related science or a MBA with experience in biotechnology fields.
