
The Berenson Fellowship at I Tatti – The Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies in Florence, Italy, supports scholars researching “Italy in the World” and the connections between Italy and other cultures during the Renaissance.
The fellowship welcomes research in fields including history, literature, philosophy, architecture and the arts, music, and history of science.
Selected Fellows receive a US$5,200 monthly grant and a one-time relocation supplement of up to US$1,800. When available, I Tatti may provide a rent-free apartment, although Fellows are responsible for utilities. If accommodation is unavailable, a housing subsidy may be offered.
Fellows also receive access to the Biblioteca Berenson and the wider intellectual community at I Tatti, including conferences, lectures and other academic activities.

Early- and mid-career scholars receive priority, and applications are welcomed from scholars of all nationalities.
Applications may be submitted in English or Italian. Applicants must submit their application electronically by 16 November 2026 at midnight Cambridge, Massachusetts time and arrange for two recommendation letters, which are due by 21 November 2026.
