The Tech Policy Press Fellowship Program 2027 is a year-long, part-time fellowship for journalists, researchers, lawyers and public policy professionals interested in the intersection of technology, democracy and society.

The fellowship supports independent reporting and policy analysis on issues such as AI governance, technology regulation, digital rights and technology’s impact on democracy. International applicants, including those from the Global Majority, are encouraged to apply.

Who Can Apply?

The fellowship is open to journalists, researchers, lawyers and public policy professionals with demonstrated experience or interest in technology policy, media or related fields.

Applicants should have expertise in a specific technology policy issue, geographic area, or the broader impact of technology on democracy and society. The programme particularly encourages applications from underrepresented communities and the Global Majority.

Application Requirements

Applicants need to submit:

• CV or résumé
• Cover letter of no more than two pages
• Links to previous published work
• Two professional references

Published work should be publicly accessible and attributed to the applicant; social media posts and unpublished papers are not accepted as writing samples.

Fellowship Expectations

Fellows will work remotely as independent contractors and are expected to produce reporting or analysis at least monthly, attend monthly cohort and editorial meetings, collaborate with other fellows when appropriate, and meet agreed deadlines.
