
The Institute for Law & AI (LawAI) Summer Fellowship 2027 is a paid 10-week fellowship for law students, professionals and academics interested in AI law and policy, with a particular focus on U.S. law and governance.
The programme offers mentorship, research opportunities and exposure to policymakers and leading experts working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, law and public policy.
Selected fellows will receive a $2,000 weekly subsidy, with potentially higher support for exceptional candidates. Those relocating to Washington, DC receive an additional $10,000 relocation and housing stipend.

The fellowship is open to law students, legal academics, PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers and professionals interested in AI law and policy.
Applicants should demonstrate a strong understanding of U.S. legal principles related to AI regulation, either through formal U.S. legal education or comparable professional experience. Previous AI-specific research experience is not required.
Applicants must be able to participate full-time during the fellowship period and attend the June 21–25 Convening Week in Washington, DC. Remote participation may be considered in exceptional circumstances.
