Details

Are you interested in shaping the future of artificial intelligence? The Institute for AI Policy and Strategy (IAPS) is offering an exciting opportunity for professionals and aspiring policy leaders through its AI Policy Fellowship Spring 2027.

This fully funded, three-month fellowship is designed for individuals who want to develop practical skills and build a career in AI policy. Participants will have the opportunity to work on real-world projects, receive mentorship from AI policy experts, and become part of a growing international community working on some of the most important challenges surrounding advanced artificial intelligence.

About the IAPS AI Policy Fellowship

The IAPS AI Policy Fellowship is a talent development program focused on preparing professionals to address the long-term implications of frontier AI.

During the fellowship, participants work closely with experienced mentors and policy experts. Projects may involve policy research, drafting briefings and proposals, reviewing legislation, organizing policy events, developing technical guidelines, and supporting other practical AI policy initiatives.

The fellowship offers two main tracks:

Research Track

The Research Track is designed for individuals interested in conducting substantive AI policy research. Fellows work with a supervisor to explore an important policy question, conduct analysis, and develop evidence-based conclusions. The goal is to produce high-quality and potentially publishable policy research.

Applied Track

The Applied Track focuses on practical and hands-on AI policy work. It is particularly suitable for professionals from backgrounds such as government, programs, operations, event management, grantmaking, and related fields who want to transition their existing skills into the AI policy sector.

Benefits

One of the major benefits of the IAPS Fellowship is its strong financial support package.

  • Senior Fellows: USD 24,000 stipend

Eligibiltiy

The fellowship welcomes applicants from a wide range of professional backgrounds.

Candidates with experience in policy, government, technology, research, academia, and related fields are encouraged to apply. However, applicants do not necessarily need to have previous policy experience or a technical background in artificial intelligence.
