KAUST Global Fellowship Program 2027 in Saudi Arabia

The KAUST Global Fellowship Program (KGFP) 2027 offers an exceptional opportunity for outstanding early-career researchers and postdoctoral scientists to pursue independent research at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia. The program is designed to help emerging researchers develop independent research careers while addressing major global challenges through innovative science and engineering.

KAUST Global Fellowship 2027 Benefits

Selected Global Fellows receive substantial financial and research support for a three-year fellowship. The program provides a US$75,000 annual living stipend, along with up to US$40,000 in dedicated research funding. Fellows also receive a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical insurance, on-campus accommodation, relocation assistance, annual travel support, and schooling for up to three children.

Beyond financial support, fellows gain access to KAUST’s advanced laboratories, research equipment, experienced faculty, international research partners, and professional development opportunities. The program also offers mentoring, leadership development, teaching training, and opportunities to build international academic and industry networks.

Eligibility Criteria

The KAUST Global Fellowship 2027 is open to applicants of all nationalities. Applicants must have received their PhD within four calendar years. For Call 2027, candidates must have obtained their PhD after January 2023, or expect to complete their PhD before the fellowship begins. Applicants must be prepared to relocate to KAUST in Saudi Arabia and conduct their proposed three-year research project full-time.

The proposed research should align with one or more of KAUST’s major research priorities: Water, Food, Health, Energy, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the Red Sea. Applicants must identify potential KAUST faculty members whose research interests align with their proposed project. A confirmed host is not required at Stage 1, but faculty support is required for applicants invited to submit the full proposal.

Application Deadline

The KAUST Global Fellowship 2027 follows a two-stage application process. Stage 1, which requires submission of a concept note, is open from 1 September to 1 October 2026. Applicants who receive host faculty support may then submit a full research proposal between 15 November 2026 and 15 January 2027.
