Position: Research Specialist in Biology under the School of Art and Science

About position
The School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania is seeking talented and energetic Biology graduate to take part in the research project in Genomics Laboratory.
In particular, the position holder will be doing the following task in the laboratory
- Conduct research under the supervision of the principal investigator.
- Design and conduct molecular biology experiments, including, for example, preparing molecular biology samples, running a next-generation sequencer.
- Similarly, studies quality control metrics during sequencing, performing simple analyses of the sequencing results, and presenting the sequencing metrics and data analyses in lab meetings.
- In addition to that, an applicant must contribute to handle animal cells, maintain cell cultures, reagents, and supplies.
- Furthermore, prepare manuscripts in support of publications and grant proposal submissions which requires written analysis and discussion of experiment results.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or other related fields. In addition to that, one year of working experience in the Biological field.
- Previous experience in molecular biology research is also preferred. In addition to that, one must demonstrate a strong desire to learn about genomics and next-generation RNA sequencing.
- Good organization and communication skills.
- Furthermore, the candidate must be self-motivated, reliable, responsible, and comfortable with cell-based research methods
