Position: Human Resources Officer
Roles and responsibilities
In particular, the Human Resources Officer performs the following duties
General duties
- Advice human resource assistants on staff pay and benefits, including the onboarding of selected candidates. Similarly, provide advice and support to managers and staff on human resources related matters.
- Keeping abreast of developments in various areas of human resources. Also, oversee the maintained of filling systems
- Supervise the work of the human resources assistants in carrying out human resources administrative transactions, including preparation of personnel actions, maintenance of staffing tables and processing of contracts.
- Provides advice and support to managers and staff on human resources related matters.
- Prepares special reports and participates and/or leads special human resources projects. Similarly, keeps abreast of developments in various areas of human resources.
Administrative duties
- Advises on interpretation and implementation of policies, regulations, and rules. Similarly, reviews and provides advice on exceptions to policies, regulation, and rules.
- Administers and provides advice on salary and related benefits, travel, and social security entitlements. Also, determines and recommends benefits and entitlements for staff on the basis of contractual status.
- Reviews policies and procedures and recommends changes as required. Similarly, reviews and recommends the level of remuneration for consultants.
Other duties
- Advises and counsels staff in respect of rights, responsibilities, code of conduct and difficulties associated with work and entitlements.
- In addition to that, perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications
- Advanced university degree in human resources management, business administration, social science, or related field. However, candidates with a first-degree qualification and two years of additional work experience can also apply.
- In addition to the academics, at least five years of working experience in a similar field such as human resources management, administration, etc.
- Knowledge of human resources policies, practices and procedures and ability to apply them in an organizational setting. Similarly, the ability to identify issues, formulate opinions, make conclusions and recommendations.
- Fluency in the English language. At the same time, additional knowledge of any other UN official language will be an asset.
