Position: Programme Officer (Civil Society Initiatives) at International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP)
About International Commission on Missing Persons
The International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP) is intergovernmental that addresses the issue of persons missing as a result of armed conflicts, violations of human rights, and natural disasters. It is operating since 1996 and is headquartered in Hague, Netherlands.
About role
The incumbent will work closely with Program Officer in Beirut and submits reports to Head of Program (Syria/MENA). In particular, the position holder will carry out the following responsibilities
- Ensuring effective implementation of ICMPs program in accordance with the results framework and associated work plans;
- Similarly, identifying implementing partners to achieve defined targets in data collection, support to families of the missing and related program objectives;
- Also, ensuring the effective planning and administration of program activities, including obtaining the necessary programmatic and administrative approvals;
- Monitoring political and social developments to identify threats and opportunities to ICMP’s objectives. Likewise, contributing to the preparation of relevant external and internal reports and correspondence.
- Assisting in the translation of tools, materials and collected data, as well as providing interpretation support to ICMP’s non-Arabic speaker during events and meetings.
- In addition to that, performing other related duties.
Requirements
- Academic qualification in political science, sociology, law, or other relevant disciplines. In addition to that, at least six years of experience working with civil society organizations.
- Plus, a proven record of experience in the field of human rights or humanitarian assistance. Similarly, experience in the documentation of human rights or working directly with victims will be considered an asset.
- In-depth understanding of the Syrian conflict and the region, as well as work experience related to Syria and the region, is desirable.
- Demonstrable experience organizing events and meetings and handling logistics.
- Excellent public speaking and communication skills. Similarly, excellent conceptual, analytical, documentation and presentation skills, including frequent report writing.
- Strong planning and prioritization skills, including the ability to think and operate strategically.
- Excellent command in English and Arabic (both speaking as well as writing). Similarly, the caliber in Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Furthermore, the candidate must have a provision to work in Lebanon legally.
