About position

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Hong Kong Polytechnic University is seeking qualified Assistant Professor in Hydraulic Engineering.

In general, the incumbent will do the following duties

• Teach relevant undergraduate and postgraduate subjects, such as Fluid Mechanics, Hydraulics and Hydrology, and Drainage Engineering;
• Supervise student projects and theses as well as initiate, lead and participate in research activities.
• Also, undertake relevant administrative duties, including program leadership, curriculum development, program validation, and accreditation, etc.
• Furthermore, perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department or his/her delegates.

Requirements

• PhD degree in Hydraulic Engineering or related disciplines. In addition to that, must have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research.
• Similarly, the candidate must have a good record of research, publications, and scholarship;
• An ability to demonstrate effective classroom teaching skills and have good interpersonal skills
• Furthermore, must possess research interest in, but not limited to, one or more of the following areas:
  (i) Hydraulic Engineering;
  (ii) Environmental Fluid Mechanics;
  (iii) Coastal Engineering and Coastal Resilience; and
  (iv) Hydroinformatics.
