Position: Lecturer in Histology at American University of Caribbean School of Medicine
The American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine (AUC) is an international, for-profit, medical school with a main basic science campus in Sint Maarten, and is in Pembroke Pines, Florida.
Roles and responsibilities
In particular, the Lecturer in Histology will do the following duties
- The preparation of course material (handouts etc). Similarly, delivery of effective lectures and associated laboratory sessions.
- Preparation, administration, marking and reporting of examinations.
- Undergo training to qualify as a facilitator in the case-based educational sessions. Also, supervise educational activities of students under actual or simulated situations.
- Prepare or assist with the instructional plans and career analyses to reflect current changes in the field.
- Advise individuals or groups of students in academic matters and exercise professional judgment in referring students to appropriate personnel.
- Develop or assist in the development of new instructional materials and teaching techniques with participation in on-going reviews and revision of curriculum planning.
- Actively participate in relevant professional activities in order to improve teaching and subject matter competence. Similarly, participate in other activities as assigned by the semester lead and/or Dean.
- Prepare, administer and evaluate examinations to assess the development of student accomplishments.
- Furthermore, completes other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Master’s degree, with 1-4 years of relevant experience. In addition to that, experience in teaching Histology or evidence of potential.
- Interest in medical education as well as the desire for self-improvement.
- Flexibility and ability to work well on a team.
- Preference will be given to an applicant with proven knowledge and teaching experience teaching gross anatomy, with cadaver dissection and/or embryology.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
