Position: Professor of Arts Management
The University of Arts Helsinki is a Finnish arts university in Helsinki, Finland. It is the only university in Finland that provides education in the fields it represents. In addition to Helsinki, the university has branch also in Kuopio (department of church music) and Seinäjoki at the University Consortium of Seinäjoki (department of popular and folk music). Altogether, the university comprises three academics: The Academy of Fine Arts of the University of the Arts Helsinki, The Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki and The Theatre Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki.
Roles and responsibilities
In particular, the Professor of Arts Management will carry out the following duties
- Conduct and publish research representing their field. In addition to that, lead, foster and develop education within their field in cooperation with other university faculty members.
- Provide students with a study guide and be sufficiently at their disposal.
- Participate in the student admissions process and study assessments.
- Similarly, provide the university with the necessary reports on teaching, research and/or artistic activities.
- Furthermore, complete the required administrative duties associated with the post.
Requirements
An ideal candidate will have the following qualifications
- Doctoral degree in the related field and also research experience academic qualifications.
- In-depth knowledge of the multidisciplinary field of arts-management, which can be demonstrated through particular expertise in one of the following fields of arts management: management and leadership, culture politics, cultural planning, arts marketing, fundraising and sponsorship, audience engagement and accessibility of art.
- Good teaching skills and the ability to provide research-based teaching as well as demonstrated success in supervising master’s theses.
- Similarly, experience in organizing doctoral education and supervising doctoral dissertations
- The ability to develop education in the university community together with cooperation partners, also internationally.
- Motivation and commitment to developing education and research.
