About position

Molloy College is seeking highly qualified Computer Scientist to teach under the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.  The successful appointee of a new Assistant Professor is likely to duties from September 1, 2019.

Generally, the incumbent will be accountable for teaching, research, scholarship and/or creative activity, and service to the College, profession and to the community. The position holder must possess strong enthusiasm and commitment to the academic success of all of our students and to an environment. Moreover, the Assistant Professor should be ready to celebrate and promote the diversity between students and the environment. In addition, the successful candidate will be ready to join faculty, staff, students, and administrators in the College’s shared commitment to the Dominican tradition of Molloy College and its four pillars of study, spirituality, service, and community.

The successful candidate will teach CIS/CSC courses, which may include introductory ones in databases, security and ethics, and networks. S/he also might need to teach one upper-level CSC course per academic year according to interest. The upper-level courses include Artificial Intelligence, Operating Systems, Assembly Language and Systems Programming, Programming Languages, and Web/Mobile Game Development. S/he also might have to develop new courses in emerging and innovative technology in alignment with other departments, programs, and initiatives at the College.

Requirements

In order to be eligible for the Assistant Professor of  Computer Information System, candidates must have

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or a related field. Consideration will be given to an advanced doctoral candidate.
•  The demonstrated potential of research and/or distinguished industry experience, as well as a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, are expected.
• An ability to involve students in research and/or to provide them with industry-based experience.
• However, previous teaching experience under the faculty of Computer Science is desirable.
