Roles and responsibilities

• Teaching responsibilities include but not limited to course development, instruction of didactic courses using traditional and online delivery models.
• Participate in recruitment, retention and admissions activities. Similarly, participation in program committee work including program evaluation, accreditation tasks.
• Contribute to the planning and curriculum development of a doctoral OT program.
• Likewise, actively engages in scholarship to advance knowledge and develops and implements a scholarship plan/faculty development plans as required by accreditation standards and Long Island University.
• Disseminates scholarly work consistent with University policies and accreditation expectations as well as securing funding to support such research.
• Engage in a process of formative and summative course evaluation to enhance the student learning experience
• Serve on programmatic and university committees.
• Actively participates in occupational therapy and/or interprofessional associations and activities.
• Also, advises students on academic, professional, and/or personal issues while providing referrals when appropriate.
• Demonstrates professionalism and ethical behavior.
• Furthermore, fulfill other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Program Director and Dean, School of Health Professions.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy or related fields awarded by an institution that is accredited by a regional accrediting body recognized by the US Department (USDE).
• Clinical experience of five years or more, as well as prior teaching experience, is necessary.
• Established research agenda with publications, grants, and ongoing research.
• However, expertise in foundational and theory-based courses preferred however other areas of expertise may be considered an initial certification and eligibility for the New York State License for Occupational Therapy is required
