About position

The Department of Engineering and Physics at Karlstad University opens application for the lecturer position in Mechanical Engineering. In general, the main duties involve teaching bachelor and master students as well as research in mechanical engineering and cooperation with industry and society. The teaching is primarily in mechanics, solid mechanics, machine dynamics, FEM and material mechanics. However, the incumbent might also need to teach in other fields of mechanical engineering according to requirement.

Furthermore, duties also include research based on the successful candidate’s research qualifications, preferably in collaboration with other researchers in the department. The research should aim to strengthen and develop the department’s research areas. In addition to that, the position holder will complete any other additional tasks assigned by the department and administration.

Requirements

In order to be fit for the role of Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering, the candidate must have

• Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification in the related field.
• Experience of teaching in the field of applied mechanics, such as mechanics, solid mechanics, machine dynamics, FEM and material mechanics is preferred. Similarly, the experience of research within the field of applied mechanics will be an asset.
• Good communication skills in written and spoken English.
