Position: Speech & Language Pathologist Michigan Medicine

Job summary

The position holder will contribute to the program that evaluates and treats children with speech, language, cognitive-communicative, feeding and swallowing delay and disorder.

In particular, the incumbent will be assisting the Michigan Medicine on the following tasks

• Evaluation of infants and children (primarily inpatient)  with communication and swallowing disorders.
• Treatment of infants and children with communication and swallowing disorders.
• Education of patients and families regarding communication and swallowing disorders.
• Documentation of clinical findings, adhering to regulatory agency and insurance requirements.

Requirements

The candidates must have the following qualification to be eligible for the role

• M.A. or M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology. In addition to that, the SHA Certificate of Clinical Competence
• State of Michigan licensure is necessary.
• Previous experience with assessment/treatment of children with complex communication and/or swallowing disorders. Similarly, a thorough understanding of acquired neurogenic communication disorders.
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
• Ability to work effectively with medical and allied health professionals within an interdisciplinary team.
• Furthermore, a demonstrated understanding of the speech-language differential diagnosis preferred.
• Similarly, previous experience with instrumental assessment of dysphagia is desirable.
