Emory University is one of the world’s leading research universities. It is well-known all over the world. A few deserving students get the Georgia Hope Scholarship at Emory University.

Emory University is a private research university in Atlanta, in the U.S. state of Georgia. The university was founded as Emory College in 1836 in Oxford, Georgia, by the Methodist Episcopal Church and was named in honor of Methodist bishop John Emory.

Since then, this college has been one of the best research universities in the United States. In fact, it ranks in the 21st position in the 2019 edition of Best Colleges. Likewise, Emory offers more than 70 different fields of studies at the undergraduate level.

Georgia Hope Scholarship

For undergraduate Georgia residents, first baccalaureate degree students only.

How to Apply:

If you think you may be HOPE eligible, apply by completing the current-year FAFSA each year you want to be considered for federal and state aid.

If you wish to receive the HOPE scholarship only, you may complete the state application, the GSFAPP, at www.gafutures.org  and submit the Georgia Hope Scholarship/GTEG Supplemental Residency Form to the Financial Aid Office.

Please complete all sections of the form and submit the documents requested on the form.  Once these documents are approved, they will satisfy the application requirements for state aid as long as you attend Emory.

Eligibility

• Entering freshmen who are Georgia residents may qualify for the HOPE Scholarship if they graduated from an eligible high school with a 3.0 or higher grade point average.
• Students who were not eligible for the HOPE Scholarship as an entering freshman may become eligible when they have earned a minimum of 30 credit hours with a 3.0 or better grade point average.
• Students who currently are eligible for and receive the HOPE Scholarship at another Georgia institution may continue to receive the HOPE Scholarship at Emory for up to 127 attempted hours maximum. To retain eligibility at Emory, students must enroll at least half-time and maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
• GPA calculations are based upon letter grades only, and plus/minus (i.e., A-, B+) values are ignored. HOPE Scholarships are not based on need but will reduce any other full-tuition awards you receive. HOPE Scholarship regulations are updated annually and may change. The annual award amount is determined by state appropriations.
• For Spring 2020, students will receive the following: Full-time students: $2,152 per semester, Half-time students: $1,077 per semester.
