General Scholarships at Louisiana Tech University

Louisiana Tech University believes in providing excellent education and affordable tuition. As a Tier One National University, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2014 Best Colleges. At Louisiana Tech University, general non-competitive admissions scholarships are available in addition to competitive scholarships with specific requirements.

General Scholarships

Bessie Purdy Scholarship

Open To: Admitted freshmen with an Education (including Ag Education) or Human Ecology major.

Awards Available: Awards made by departments after March 1, depending on funds available Application Deadline: Apply for admission by the priority deadline of Jan 5, and contact major about the additional application.

CenturyLink Scholarship

Open To: Admitted freshmen with an Accounting or Engineering major who lives in Lincoln, Ouachita, Morehouse, Richland, or Union parishes and interview with a committee at CenturyLink.

Academic Requirements: 3.0 cumulative GPA

Available Awards: One award for $1,500 per year for four academic years

Maintaining Scholarship: Must remain a full-time Accounting or Engineering major and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a quarterly basis.

Application Deadline: Applications mailed to high school counselors February 1 and are due by April 1

Colvin Memorial Scholarship

Open To: Admitted incoming freshmen (all majors) who graduate from Dubach High School

Academic Requirements: 3.2 cumulative GPA and ACT: 24 or SAT: 1090 (CR+M)

Awards Available: One award for $800 for the fall quarter

Application Deadline: Apply for admission by the priority deadline of January 5.

High School Rally Scholarship

Open To: Admitted incoming freshmen (A letter is automatically mailed to eligible students)

Additional Requirements Considered: Overall winner in selected events at the District Rally held at Louisiana Tech; Must attend Louisiana Tech in the fall quarter following high school graduation

Awards Available: $300 for the fall quarter

Marbury Alumni Scholarship

Open To: Admitted incoming freshmen who had at least one parent graduate from Louisiana Tech

Academic Requirements: 3.0 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 unweighted scale)

Available Awards: 15 awards for $1,000 for one academic year

Application Deadline: Apply for admission by the priority deadline of January 5

McGee Scholarship-Bienville

Open To: Admitted incoming freshmen who graduate from Bienville Parish high school and remain in good standing at the university (Selections made by a board of principals and faculty members from the parish schools)

Awards Available: Awards made depending on funds available.

Maintaining Scholarship: Student must remain full-time and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5

Application Deadline: Apply for admission by the priority deadline of January 5

McGee Scholarship-Red River

Open To: Admitted incoming freshmen who graduate from Red River Parish high school and remain in good standing at the university (Selections made by a board of principals and faculty members from the parish schools)

Awards Available: Awards made depending on funds available.

Maintaining Scholarship: Must remain full-time and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5.

Application Deadline: Apply for admission by the priority deadline of January 5

Grant-in-aid and Service Awards

Frequently these are awarded on the basis of special skills and require the student to render a service to the University. Included in this category are scholarships in athletics, music, band, and academic department awards.
