Position Title: Tenure Track Position in Microbiology at Faculty of Microbiology

Position summary

The Faculty of Microbiology at Western Colorado University seeks appointee for the position of Assistant Professor in the Faculty. Basically the position holder will lecture and laboratory courses in microbiology (upper and lower division) and introductory biology courses. And the candidates who can teach cell biology, genetics, genomics, and courses in the candidate’s area of expertise that support the degree program in biology are more preferred. The position holder should teach 24-semester credits per academic year. However,  reassigning time to conduct research involving undergraduates might also happen.

Furthermore, responsibilities also include the development and supervision of a robust undergraduate research program, seeking external funding, academic advising, assessment, student recruitment, service to pre-health students, service to the university, and continued professional development.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications

• Doctoral qualifications in biology with an emphasis in microbiology or a related field is necessary.
• In addition to that, a strong commitment to innovative undergraduate education and demonstrate excellence in teaching in lecture and laboratory settings.
• Commitment to undergraduate research preferred.
