Position: Training and Capacity Development Activities Assistant

Responsibilities

Under the overall guidance of the unit officer, the appointee will be doing the following duties

• Contributing to the design, outreach, and implementation of training activities throughout the program.
• Supporting the development and delivery of the including program activities, including online courses, workshops, symposiums, and study visits.
• Researching and translating training materials to support program expansion or joint activities with partners.
• Assisting in identifying relevant experts, speakers and partner institutions from different regions and sectors.
• Also, assisting in strengthening the substantive aspects of training activities in the areas of public finance, financial negotiations, trade, and intellectual property.
• Supporting the administrative, procurement, and travel arrangements, as well as other logistical arrangements in the organization and implementation of training activities; and
• Similarly, supporting outreach and promotion of training and networking events for finance and trade officials to individuals and relevant institutions.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications

• University degree in finance, business, engineering, public policy, education or equivalent relevant field. In addition to that, three years of work experience in designing, developing, and implementing training activities.
• Experience in project management and conducting research in the field of finance, trade, frontier technology will be an asset.
• Fluency in spoken and written English and Spanish or French. In addition to that, knowledge of other official UN languages will be considered an asset.

The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) is a dedicated training arm of the United Nations system. UNITAR provides training and capacity development activities to assist mainly developing countries with special attention to Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and other groups and communities who are most vulnerable, including those in conflict situations. However, this Institute is financed entirely from voluntary contributions mainly from the UN Member States, other UN agencies, international and Intergovernmental Organizations, NGOs and the private sector.
