Position: Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Southern New Hampshire University’s College of Engineering, Technology, and Aeronautics (CETA)
Responsibilities
- Develop, prepare, and teach college-approved Computer Science courses in accordance with approved course descriptions and class schedules.
- Engage in shared governance by participating in department and college committees as well as assisting in the formulation of policy pertaining to educational programs.
- Advise students in the department for their academic needs and also mentor students in project work.
- Participate in departmental efforts for curriculum development, program reviews and accreditation under the supervision of the department chair. In addition, collaborate with the faculty/staff in departmental and College-level projects.
- Develop and attend professional improvement activities in order to maintain contact with one’s academic discipline, including teaching/learning processes and/or development of knowledge in one’s field of specialization.
- Develop new instructional materials, techniques, course offerings or major revisions of the same.
- Participate in student career development and related advising or mentoring activities and special retention programs. Also, participate in College outreach events and projects.
- Attend occasional evening and weekend CETA, Admission and University-wide events. Similarly, attend College-mandated training, professional development activities and/or meetings.
Work Hours
Typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with the flexibility to meet business demands as needed.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or closely allied field and expertise in one or more of the following areas: big data, computer security, computer vision, embedded programming, and software engineering.
- Industrial research or post-doctorate fellowship experience preferred. Similarly, teaching experience in Higher Education and/or industrial experience in the related technical fields is desirable.
