Position: Casual Research Assistant – UTS Data Science at the faculty of Engineering & Information Technology
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications
- Engage in research appropriate to the strategic research direction of Centre for Data Science.
- Establish and develop productive collaborative research activity internally with colleagues in the Centre, School and University and externally with other broader-based research partners.
- Produce research publications at a rate appropriate to the level of employment.
- Similarly, present ongoing research to colleagues, participate in and contribute to the research culture of the School.
- Contributed as a presenter to the activities that can demonstrate to the public, potential collaborators, or visitors the research achievements/goals of Centre for Data Science.
- Collaborate with the team leaders and other team members for related experiment design or platform design.
- Supervise research students of the School as well as contribute to the development of research students as future researchers.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications
- Masters diploma (with a research component) in an appropriate area of computer science, currently ongoing or completed already. Happy to consider Ph.D. students with available time;
- Computer science background(essential), strong data science knowledge (having hands-on experience is a plus). Similarly, strong programming skills (Python and/or R), machine learning knowledge
- Good mathematical and statistics background, ideally in time series analysis, point processes – actuarial or financial studies are a plus.
- Furthermore, the potential for research achievement.
