WHO calls applications for the WHO Internship Program for graduates and postgraduates. Interested candidates can apply until 25th February 2020.
WHO as the leader in global public health issues is committed to building a diverse pool of future leaders in public health. WHO’s Internship Programme offers a wide range of opportunities for graduate and postgraduate students to gain insight into the technical and administrative programs of WHO while enriching their knowledge and experience in the health field, thereby contributing to the advancement of public health.
Objectives
The internship program has the following objectives
- It provides a framework for assigning postgraduate students from diverse academic backgrounds to WHO programs.
- It enhances their educational experience through practical assignments.
- Also, the program helps to expose students to the work of WHO.
- Additionally, it provides WHO programs with input from students specializing in various fields. Most students are placed in health-related programs, although other disciplines can be considered as appropriate such as communication, external relations or human resources.
Benefits
- WHO provides stipends to students who need support.
- It provides to all interns a medical and accident insurance.
- However, all costs of travel and accommodation are the responsibility of the intern candidate.
Eligibility Criteria
The applicants must meet the following requirements to be eligible for the Internship Program
- The candidates must be at least twenty years of age on the date of application. They must be enrolled in a course of study at a university or equivalent institution leading to a formal qualification. Already graduated candidates can apply up to 6 months after their graduation.
- Also, they should have completed three years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution prior to commencing the assignment.
- Additionally, they must possess a first degree in public health, medical or social field related to the technical work of WHO or a degree in a management-related or administrative field.
- Moreover, they must not be related to a WHO staff member (e.g., son/daughter, brother/sister, or mother/father).
- Also, the candidates must be fluent at least in one of the working languages of the office of assignment.
- Besides, they should not have previously participated in the WHO’s Internship Programme.
- Furthermore, they must hold a valid passport of a WHO Member State.
Duration
The duration of WHO internships is between six to twenty-four weeks depending on the needs of the WHO technical unit and the intern’s availability.
