Applications open for 2020 Anzisha Prize
Summary
The Anzisha Prize is Africa’s biggest award for youngest entrepreneurs of 15 – 22 years old of ages. The award rewards over USD $100,000 every year in prize money to entrepreneurs from all over the continent. This prize of open to young African entrepreneurs trying to grow a small business or creator of something that serves the community better. Each year, the organizer selects 20 leading youth entrepreneurs to become Anzisha Prize Fellows. Furthermore, the fellow will become a role model and inspire other young entrepreneurs to believe in the difference you can make in Africa, with the right support.
Eligibilities
Candidates must have the following qualifications to be eligible for Anzisha Prize 2020
- Applicants must be between 15 and 22 years old with an ID document or Passport to present as evidence. Precisely, anyone born before November 1, 1997, or after October 31, 2005, are not eligible to apply.
- Applicants must be a national of an African country with a business based in Africa for African customers/beneficiaries.
- The Anzisha Prize isn’t for great ideas or business plans – candidates must have already started, and be able to prove it. So, the organizer encourages applicants to get started now and ensure they have tangible results to share before applications open.
- The business, invention or social project can be in any field or industry (science and technology, civil society, arts and culture, sports, etc.). Moreover, the organizer welcomes applications from all backgrounds and models.
- Furthermore, individuals who apply must be one of the founding members of a business; for example, 2 or 3 co-founders who started up the project together.
Prizes
- Monetary Reward of a total of $100,000.
- $2,000 access to a world-renowned Entrepreneurial Leadership curriculum and also training with the potential for further investment based on engagement and performance.
- $2,500 worth of rewards from consulting and mentorship services. Similarly, $2,000 worth of rewards from Global speaking events or Experts in Residence support.
- $1,000 worth of rewards from Regional Indabas across the continent.
Selection Criteria
The judges will evaluate the business plan depending upon the following things
- Is the venture established with customers and beneficiaries and are you offering value to them?
- Are applicants, the founder, leading and managing their venture?
- Is the venture demonstrating some impact already?
- Whether the venture is a for-profit business or cause-based, does it already earn revenues or already reach beneficiaries? Is there the potential to increase revenues or beneficiary reach with support from Anzisha?
- Has the venture created some jobs and is there potential to create more high-quality jobs?
Similarly, the judges will evaluate the candidate applicant on the following criteria
- Candidates are the leader of their venture and they also drive both venture strategy and operations.
- Similarly, candidates spend at least 20 hours a week (or more) on their business and plan to continue to do so after selection.
