UN Volunteers calls applications for the vacancy position of Software Developer in Manila, Philipines
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Software Development Manager or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteers Software Developer collaborates with business units to improve the end-user experience and adoption of web applications. In addition to that, the Software Developer builds and maintains end-to-end solutions based on business functional requirements. Furthermore, the Developer ensures that the application performance metrics meet stated targets.
Responsibilities
- Managing change request and enhancement implementation as well as application releases for the application portfolio. Similarly, managing tier 3 technical support of the application Portfolio, ensuring agreed SLAs are met.
- In conjunction with the Head of Project Management Practice and Software Development Manager, participating in determining requirements, planning technical aspects of the project to ensure that requirements are consistent, complete, correct, and operationally defined.
- Participating in the detailed application design of the system in conjunction with the System/ Solution Architect.
- Developing using Object Oriented design principles and software design patterns to attain high reusability and maintainability.
- Adhere to the version control system, build and release processes and coding standards.
- Also, participating in design and code walk-through for review and incorporate feedback into design and code artifacts.
- Performing unit and integration tests and resolve any resulting issues/bugs.
Working with the architects and develop business systems using the IOM development standards framework. - Communicating project status, issues and risk factors to project team members.
- Furthermore, performing other related tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Advanced higher degree (Bachelors or equivalent) in Information Systems or a related area. However, applicants with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in combination with relevant training and/or professional experience are also eligible to apply.
- At least 5 years of professional work experience at the national and/or international experience developing web applications.
- Experience in web application design and development, experience in core Java programming with at least three years in design and development of J2EE applications, install, configure and secure application/ web servers such as WebLogic, WebSphere, JBoss, and Tomcat.
- Experience with working on the Drupal CMS platform is a must from installation, configuration, and website development.
- Also, experience with development tools such as Ant, xdOCLET, Eclipse, working with database technologies, specifically Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL.
- Knowledge and Experience in developing web applications using MS Visual Studio using .NET technologies will be an advantage.
- Strong fluent English proficiency.
- Furthermore, experience with the development and implementation of portlets also an advantage.
