Duties
- Survey and systematize information on traditional agricultural systems and the GIAHS program, in Brazil and worldwide.
- Additionally, carry out studies, with specific information gathering on the experience of the 1st Brazilian application to the GIAHS program, the case of the ‘Traditional Agricultural System of the Pickers of Evergreen Flowers: the touch-tree field, biodiversity, and transhumance in the Serra do Espinhaço Meridional’, located in Minas Gerais.
- Also, he/she will carry out dialogues and interviews with stakeholders (national and international) involved with this theme via the Internet or, when necessary, in person: companies, technical or academic specialists and farmers’ cooperatives.
- Likewise, the incumbent will operate specialized training for MAPA technicians and federal agencies that are partners of the MAPA, based on the results found.
- Present the results of this consultancy in relevant forums during the term of the contract.
- Furthermore, Prepare meetings with general coordination and legal advice from the MAPA, when necessary.
Qualifications
The candidates should meet the given criteria for the Vacancy for Technical Specialist at FAO in Brazil
- Minimum experience of 08 (eight) years in international cooperation for sustainable rural development or agrobiodiversity or socio biodiversity.
- At least limited knowledge of English language (level B)
- Also, Brazilian Nationality
- Furthermore, Knowledge of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) program called ‘Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems’ (GIAHS).
- Knowledge about traditional agricultural systems in Brazil or in other countries.
- Previous experiences in the thematic area of this Vacancy Announcement.
- Also, Knowledge of national and international institutions working for the protection, recognition or promotion of Traditional Agricultural Systems.
