Position Summary
Responsible for learning and implementing the daily operation of the University’s Windows servers along with the maintenance functions for those systems. The position reports to the Manager of IT Infrastructure.
Duties
- Monitor, update, and complete daily server related tasks assigned through Service Now.
- Additionally, monitor Solarwinds daily for issues, and how to implement fixes for issues.
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve server and server application related problems.
- Also, install and implement new or replacement servers and equipment, both physical and virtual, including OS and other applications needed.
- Likewise, the incumbent will research, plan, test, and then implement changes to systems including new software applications, software upgrades, patches, firmware, and fixes according to the change management procedures and policies.
- Review and administer daily routine assignments (e.g. Backups, Spam, etc.).
- Also, he/she will create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented server systems in areas of responsibility.
- Provide backup to Technology team members as assigned.
- Furthermore, the candidate will ensure that all information is available for equipment so that asset information can be entered into Service Now.
- Evaluate current procedures and processes and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Be willing to be mentored by supervisors and co-workers who have been assigned to train them on tasks, along with an attitude of being teachable, and willing to learn.
- Similarly, he/she will be responsible for maintaining a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to foster teamwork and by providing leadership to subordinates. Requires consistent on-time attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications for Vacancy for Server Administrator
Minimum
- Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field;
- Additionally, professional experience or formal training with Windows server administration in an Active Directory environment.
- Also, other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for part of these basic requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
- One to three years’ working experience with Windows server administration in an Active Directory environment.
- Experience with Linux.
