Applications call for Westpac Asian Exchange Scholars Program

Are you curious about what Asia has to offer? Aside from its economic potential, it remains one of the most exciting regions in the world. Westpac Asian Exchange Scholarships Program will immerse you in everything this region– ultimately forging long-lasting and meaningful relationships between the next generation of young Australian and Asian leaders.

Exchange students will spend up to two semesters in China, Japan or Singapore It is one experience of a lifetime and unlike most scholarships, this one is designed to give you the leadership skills that can help shape your future. Basically, it’s a genuine cultural experience to open your mind, develop your thinking, and offer you networking opportunities with some of the best Australia-Asia thought leaders and support networks.

Moreover, as a Westpac Asian Exchange Scholar, students become part of the Westpac 100 Scholars Network. Lifelong membership to this network gives you access to one of Australia’s most diverse meetings of like-minds. In addition to that, drawing on the Scholars’ strong sense of purpose and desire to collaborate, the network is to be inspiring, influential and a life-long learning experience.

Candidates will also be encouraged to make the most of your scholarship with ‘plug-in’ experiences like language courses, internships, and volunteering.

Education Institutions in Asia

Scholars can attend any university in the regions of mainland China, Hong Kong and Singapore, provided that there is an exchange agreement in place with the Australian university.

In light of recent events in Hong Kong, this destination will no longer be eligible for Westpac Scholars wishing to go on exchange in 2020. China and Singapore are still eligible destinations, and Westpac is currently evaluating alternative options to Hong Kong. They publish an update shortly. Eligibilities 

• An Australian citizen or permanent resident.
• Studying full time at a participating Australian university (all fields of study are eligible).
• Enrolled in the second year or beyond when commencing their exchange.
• Holding a minimum of a credit average.
• Furthermore, intending to do a one or two semesters exchange, commencing in Semester 2, 2020.
