There is an application call for Intern – Public Information in Lebanon. The Department of Global Communications is offering an internship program for a minimum of two months full time basis with an opportunity for extension up to but not exceeding six months, pending the needs of the department or office to which they are assigned. Interns are not paid and are responsible for all expenses related to the internship.
Furthermore, the internship position is in the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Beirut within the Information Centres Service (ICS), Strategic Communications Division (SCD), Department of Global Communications (DGC).
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background; the intern’s assigned office as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to: 1- Draft in English and Arabic media advisories, press releases, press reviews, talking points, statements, news stories, etc.
2 -Also, update on daily basis UNIC-Beirut’s website and other social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, youtube, etc) with relevant UN news and events;
3- Likewise, provide media support to events/campaigns organized by UNIC Beirut;
4- Assist in organizing press conferences, meetings, briefings and other PR events by UNICBeirut;
5- Additionally, in taking photos and videos for media coverage and archiving;
6- Also, assist in other ad-hoc activities as instructed.
Education
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Program, the following conditions must be met:
(a) be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
(b) Likewise, be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or
(c) Also, have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation;
Work Experience
No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Program. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. Furthermore, for this internship, candidates must have fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic. Knowledge of French is desirable.
