Applications are open for Kuala Lumpur International Photoawards PORTRAIT PRIZE 2021. The Kuala Lumpur International Photoawards [KLPA] is an annual global portrait photography competition initiated in 2009 by Steven V-L Lee, a Malaysian photographer.
This year the Kuala Lumpur International Photoawards PORTRAIT PRIZE has three categories:
- Single Image THEME: Each photographer may submit up to 10 single portrait photographs on the theme of SENSE OF SELF.
- Single Image OPEN: There is no specific theme for this category. Participants may submit up to 10 portrait-based photographs.
- Project Grant: Each project must contain 6 to 12 images.

- 1st Prize: USD$2,000
- 2nd Prize: USD$1,000

Single Image Open Category
- 1st Prize: USD$2,000
- 2nd Prize: USD$1,000
- 3rd Prize: USD
Project Grant category
- Three photographers will be awarded US$1,000 each in June 2021 to allow them to continue and complete their work-in-progress projects. Projects must be ready to be exhibited in September.
Eligibility
- In this open Category, photographers may submit portraits that do not have to adhere to the theme but represent a personal vision and creativity, no matter which genre they are captured in.
- To encourage wider global audience participation, all photographers are able to submit one free entry in this Single Image Open category.
- The contest hopes to see more entries from South America, the African continent as well as the Middle East and Asia countries in particular.

- 1 image: US$15 in the THEME category / free in the OPEN category
- 2 images: US$30
- 3-6 images: US$45
- 7-10 images: US$55
Project Grant category
- US$45 per project (6-12 images)
