Augustine Macarthy has a successful track record in development and humanitarian sectors with significant experience in youth empowerment, child protection, poverty alleviation, and community governance structure within Sierra Leone. Augustine is the Founder/Director of Movement towards Education and Youth Empowerment-Sierra Leone (MEYE-SL), which focuses on promoting the strengths and abilities of Youths and children. He is currently serving as the National Coordinator for Planetstartup based in the USA and he is also working as a Social Worker for CARITAS-BO in promoting the welfare of vulnerable children. Augustine holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Njala University, where he focused on human development and societal transformation. Additionally, he received several certificates in management, Social entrepreneurship, leadership, development and humanitarian sectors from Civil Society Leadership Institute (CSLI), West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI), in Accra, Ghana, the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) in Accra, Ghana, Bocconi University, in Italy and an Associate Fellow of the Royal Commonwealth Society (RCS). As a Youth and change maker, Augustine has thought it fit that he is to be held responsible and accountable in the future for any positive or negative impact towards his community. As such Augustine has been driven by his commitment of a self-reliance society with good working environment and quality education, with the vision of helping youths in promoting economic empowerment and participating in poverty reduction and to further reinforce vulnerable children’s Rights to have equal opportunities to access quality education so they can escape from poverty and fulfill their dreams.
